Why this exists

The outline keeps growing. The course stays in your head.

There's a specific energy that comes through when someone is trying to build a course or a group program, and I've seen it enough times now to recognize it pretty fast. It isn't stuck-stuck, like they don't know what they want to do. They know. They know their work is good, they know people need it, and they're excited to get it out into the world. And then there's so much to think about, and they want to do it right, and all of it arrives at once and turns into a kind of paralysis where nothing moves even though everything feels urgent.

So the outline keeps getting longer, the folder keeps getting fuller, and the course itself, the actual thing people could be going through right now, stays exactly where it has always been, which is mostly in your head.

That isn't a motivation problem. It's a shape problem. The expertise is real and the content is there, it just doesn't have a structure yet, and without a structure it doesn't know where to go.

That's what I help with. I look at what you've built, or what you're trying to build, and tell you specifically what the structure needs to be and what needs to happen next. Not a general framework or a list of things to think about. The actual next thing.

Your 1:1 work always depended on what the person needed that day. Turning that into a sequence that works for everyone is hard to see from the inside.

What that looked like for one person

A small structural shift

I worked with someone whose course was really brilliant. It was a healing program for highly sensitive people with a non-linear structure, so people could check in with their energy and go to the section that fit that day. The content was all there and the vision was clear. But the platform was built for straight-line progression, and people were getting lost, getting frustrated, and leaving.

I didn't rebuild anything. I created one navigation page they could return to each time, something that helped people figure out where to go without feeling like they were doing it wrong. One small structural shift, and the whole thing worked the way she had always meant it to.

The content was never the problem.

You probably don't need more content either. You need someone to look at what's already there and give it the shape that lets your actual work come through clearly.

Who this is for

This is a good fit if...

You have a folder called something like “course stuff,” “final final version,” or just “ugh.”

It's all in there, and you can tell it's good. It just won't sit still long enough to become a course.

You know your work is good and can't get it to take shape as a course.

You've seen what it does for people in 1:1 sessions, and you've looked at it for so long that everything seems wrong and nothing seems fixable.

You've built something and it's technically done, but it feels like it's missing something.

You keep adding modules hoping that's the fix. More modules usually aren't, and I can help you find what is.

You made something before that didn't go the way you pictured.

Part of you is nervous to try again, and every new idea comes with a little voice asking if it's worth the risk. That usually doesn't mean the material isn't good. It usually means nobody has looked at it from where the person going through it is standing.

You have a group program, workshop, or webinar idea that makes complete sense in your head and absolutely zero sense on paper.

Group program decisions you can't make alone are exactly the kind of thing you can send me.

You're taking what works beautifully in 1:1 and trying to make it work for a group.

In a session you can read the room and adjust on the fly. In a group, everyone shows up on the same day with different needs, and you have to decide how much to give people each week, how to pace live sessions alongside recorded content, and how to feel responsive without redesigning it every time. That's its own kind of shape problem, and most people were never taught to think it through.

Your calendar is full, and you want another way for people to work with you.

You've built your business on one-on-one work, and you can see the ceiling coming. A course, group program, or paid workshop is a way to expand your reach, but only if it holds up to the quality of the work you do in person.

People happily pay to work with you one on one, and you still wonder if anyone would buy the course.

Putting something out there that people can react to without you in the room can feel like a lot, especially if tech isn't your thing. It helps to have someone alongside you who can look at the whole thing and tell you what's working.

And if you're kind of just done trying to figure it out alone, and what you want is someone to look at the whole thing and tell you where to go from here, that's what this is.

Book Clarity Build

The process

How it works

1

You tell me what you're making

Before your Clarity Session, a short intake form asks what you're creating, where things usually get stuck, how quickly you're hoping to move, and what you'd love to have by the end. It's how I get up to speed so we don't spend the session on backstory.

2

You get clear in your Clarity Session

Ninety minutes on Zoom to get clear on what this is, who it's for, and how it should be laid out. You leave with a Google Doc that holds all of it: a snapshot of what you're building, the structure, the decisions we made along the way, and a parking lot for anything still open. That doc becomes home base for the whole build.

3

You build for three months, and I keep you moving

You send work and questions whenever your brain is actually in it, and I reply with specific feedback you can use the same day. There's no schedule to keep up with, just a rhythm you build as you go.

Three months gives you room for a steady pace, and room for a week to get away from you when life does what life does. If it does, we pick up from where you are. You don't lose your spot, and you don't start over.

The approach

You do the building. I keep you moving.

This is your work, and you're the one creating it. What I do is look at it from every angle I can find, including the ones you can't see from where you're standing. I'll tell you what's working, I'll push on the parts that are fine but could be so much better, and I'll make sure it makes sense for people whose brains don't work like yours, so nobody reaches the last module and thinks, “okay, now what?” I'll also help you hit your own deadlines and stay out of the rabbit holes, because there are always rabbit holes.

I start with the shape.

Before anything gets built, I map what your course needs to do, so every piece has a reason to be there.

I build it around you.

I don't hand you a template. Templates have their place, but the box wasn't built for your work, so a little of what makes it yours gets trimmed to fit. Every course, program, or workshop is a bit of a snowflake, and I treat yours like one.

I design for the person going through it.

Their brain, their week, a regular Tuesday. Whether they have ten minutes a day or a few hours a week, and whether you want them to do something or just take in information, shapes the whole design.

I work with you, not for you.

Someone building it for you doesn't have your knowledge. Building it with someone who has the map is better, and you finish with a course you made and the know-how to build your next one or revise what you've already made.

I stay in my lane.

Design and structure are what I do. I'll help with platform questions within what I know, and I'll tell you when something belongs with their support team. Launch strategy and marketing are someone else's work.

Sarah Shoop

Sarah Shoop

Learning Architect

I've spent over 20 years in instructional design, which means over 20 years of looking at how people learn, what makes content stick, and what makes a course or group program stop working before it gets the chance to.

Most of the people I work with don't have a content problem. They have a shape problem, and I can usually see it pretty fast. It's not magic, just pattern recognition from a very long time of doing this kind of work. I tend to look at things from a lot of angles at once, which is useful for your course and occasionally exhausting for the people around me.

I'm an educator at heart, so I'm always asking whether the person going through your work can actually use it on a regular Tuesday, whatever their brain is like.

What's included

Everything you need for the whole build

01

The intake form

Before your Clarity Session, you tell me what you're creating, where things usually get stuck, how quickly you're hoping to move, and what you'd love to have by the end.

02

Your Clarity Session and your Clarity Build doc

Ninety minutes on Zoom, and a Google Doc that becomes home base for everything you build.

03

Your welcome guide

One place with how everything works, how to ask for feedback, answers to the structure questions people ask most, and step-by-step instructions with screenshots for using the shared doc, so it's easy even if Google Docs isn't your thing.

04

Three months of async build support

You send work, I respond with specific feedback you can use that same day. Draft modules, structure decisions, questions you've been going in circles on, group program decisions you can't make alone. One thing at a time, back and forth, for the whole build.

05

Check-ins along the way

A little nudge from me to see where you are, so a longer build doesn't slowly drift away from you.

Everything lives in two places. Your Clarity Build doc is where your work lives and where I leave feedback, right in the comments. Google Chat is where you send your questions and I send my replies.

When the three months are done

What you'll have in your hands

My hope is that you finish with your course built. It's your work and you're the one doing the building, so what I can tell you for sure is what you'll have either way:

A solid outline and the right scaffolding

The structure your course, group program, or workshop needs, built around your material and your people.

A clear sense of what to do next

What to set up and in what order, so it stops living in a folder called “ugh.”

Ways to connect with the people going through it

The best ways to communicate with your audience, plus engaging ideas to include in your course or group program.

A plan you actually understand

Not just a plan, but a real sense of how you're going to carry it out.

Confidence in what you're making

The sense that it's the best thing for your people and for you.

The skills for your next one

Enough know-how to build your next course, or to go back and revise what you've already made.

And once it's built, there's more room to breathe. You have another way for people to learn from you, at the same level of quality as your one-on-one work, so your calendar doesn't have to be wall-to-wall meetings. That can give you more freedom to expand your reach and a different entry point for people who want to work with you. And when you do sit down to write your sales page and emails, you'll know exactly what you're offering and what it does.

Another way it went

Someone I worked with had never created a course, but she wanted something out in the world that represented the work she'd been doing with people one on one. She started with a general outline that felt like what an AI would say a course for her clients should include. As the work got deeper, it turned into a much better picture of what she does and what she can do for her clients. She went from not sure she could do it to so excited to get it out into the world that the sales side wasn't nearly as daunting as it had been at the start.

What you'll be sending me

Most of it doesn't sound like a formal design problem

People come into Clarity Build with all kinds of questions, and they tend to sound more like this:

“I don't know if this section is clear. Can you read it and tell me if it makes sense?”

“I'm stuck between two different goals for this course. I can't figure out which one to build around.”

“I don't know how many modules I should have, and I know that's more complicated than just picking a number.”

“I can't figure out what order to put things in. Every order I try feels wrong for different reasons.”

“This page looks busy. I don't know how to make it feel less chaotic without losing anything.”

“For my group program, I can't decide whether to give them everything at once or drip it out.”

“How much is reasonable to expect people to get done in a week? I have no idea if I'm asking too much.”

“I'm just stuck. Nothing sounds right, and I don't know where to go from here.”

All of those are shape questions, and all of them are exactly the kind of thing you can send me during your build.

In their words

“Working with Sarah was one of the best decisions I made during the program content creation process. From the start, she put me at ease with her deep understanding of my vision and the thoughtful insights she offered. It felt as though she could see the structure and potential of my idea, even when I struggled to articulate it clearly. Sarah brought clarity to concepts that had been living in my head and helped me put them into words. Her belief in what I was creating, combined with her calm, reassuring, and encouraging presence, gave me the confidence and momentum I needed to complete my program content.”

Motez Robinson, Jr.

Mo Tennis Coaching Inc.

“Working with Sarah has been a delight! She has such a calming presence and an incredible ability to take my scattered ideas, organize them into something meaningful, and bring a sense of clarity and direction to the process. I genuinely appreciate her patience, insight, and thoughtful approach. I look forward to working with Sarah again :)”

Common questions

A few things people ask

Do I need a finished outline or a firm idea?

No. Clarity Build works for something brand new and for an update to something you've already made. The intake form tells me where you are, and I take it from there.

Can I use Clarity Build to update a course I've already made?

Yes. Refreshing something you've already made is part of what this is for, and the intake form is where you tell me what you have and what isn't working the way you pictured.

Will my course be finished in three months?

My hope is that you finish with your course built. It's your work and you're the one building it, so I can't promise a specific finished product on day 90, and I wouldn't want to. What you'll have is a solid outline and the right scaffolding, a clear sense of what to do and set up next, ideas for engaging your people, and a plan you understand well enough to carry out. Even people who haven't quite finished building by the end of the three months leave feeling much more confident about what they're creating.

I'm not very tech savvy. Is this still a good fit?

Yes. A course doesn't need to be fancy to be good, because it's the quality of what's inside that makes it worth taking, not how it looks. I'm happy to help with questions about your platform within what I know, and if it's one I'm less familiar with, I'll tell you and point you toward their support team for the tech-specific pieces.

What do the first few weeks feel like?

Early on, the back and forth can feel a little rough while you find your groove. Once you do, you start to see the pattern and what needs to happen, and the worry about it taking too long eases. You also get to know your own people really well along the way, which tends to help in other areas of your business, like marketing and sales.

Is there a schedule I need to keep up with?

Beyond your Clarity Session, there's no call schedule and no weekly check-in to show up to. You work when your brain is working, you send when you have something, and I respond during my work time. If a week gets away from you, we recalibrate. You don't lose your spot and you don't start over.

What does a typical exchange look like?

One thing at a time: one module, one question, one decision, not a full course dump. That's what keeps the feedback usable and the momentum real. More of a writer? Send text. Think better out loud, or need to show me something? Record a Loom, or whatever video recorder you use, and drop the link in the chat.

How quickly will I hear back?

Within 48 business hours, Monday through Friday. Weekends aren't included in that window, so you'll always have a sense of when to expect a response and can keep building instead of waiting around wondering.

What will you give feedback on?

Structure, sequencing, clarity, and how it feels to go through. I also catch typos and grammar, and I'm happy to help with platform questions within what I know. If it's a platform I'm less familiar with, I'll tell you and point you toward their support team for the tech-specific pieces. I don't review sales pages or marketing copy, because that's a different kind of work. What I can do is help you make what you're offering so clear and so good that you know exactly what to say when you do sit down to write it.

Can I move faster than three months?

Reach out and we can talk about it.

When do I schedule my Clarity Session?

Please schedule it within 30 days of purchase. Your Clarity Session happens first, and your build begins from there.

What's the refund policy?

If you decide Clarity Build isn't for you before your Clarity Session, I'll refund you in full. Once we've had the session, the work has really begun, so you have five calendar days after it to change your mind. If you do, I'll refund what you've paid minus the $350 Clarity Session, and you won't owe anything further. After those five days, refunds aren't available, and if you're on the payment plan, all three payments still apply, because your feedback and support are already underway.
